Our Story

NPE has decades of experience in process industry and in process plant engineering and consulting projects, with roots stretching back nearly half a century.

How it started

Our operations began in Tampere in 1980 when Kulplan Oy was founded. The company focused on automation and electrical engineering services.

In 1984, New Project Oy was established in Espoo. In 1987, Kulconsult Oy started in Tampere. Bringing strong process expertise, mechanical engineering skills (layout, piping, and steel structure engineering), and project management experience. In the late 1980s, the companies’ activities were merged, and the first joint name, KUL companies, was introduced. In the mid-1990s, we adopted a new marketing name, NP Engineering.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, our operations grew rapidly through production line modernization projects for our customers. We handled engineering in process, mechnanical parts (lay-outs, pipings, steel constructions), automation, electrical, and ICT areas, excluding civil engineering.

Between 2005 and 2006, New Project Oy ceased its operations, and its functions and personnel were transferred to other companies within the group.
Kulplan Oy was international from the very beginning. In the 1980s, we received our first direct orders from international clients. Participating in export projects for our clients. Our employees frequently traveled abroad for meetings, installation supervision, and commissioning. In the 1980s, we also received our first direct orders from international clients.

New Brand

In September 2006, we launched a new visual identity and brand architecture. The umbrella name for the company was chosen as the acronym NPE, which stands for New Project Engineering. This name reflects our expertise, customer focus, and our desire to evolve and deliver success for our clients.

At the same time, we unified the names of our companies. Currently, NPE consists of NPE Kulplan Oy and NPE Kulconsult Oy.
